GATE is an Online Computer Based Test (CBT) conducted every year in the month of January / February
A candidate is allowed to appear in Only one of the 23 papers
No restriction on the number of attempts
There is no upper age limit
GATE score is valid for THREE YEARS from the date of announcement of the results.
Candidates have to apply only ONLINE through GOAPS

Bachelor’s degree holders in Engineering / Technology / Architecture (4 years after 10 + 2) and those who are in the final year of such programmes.
Degree holders in Integrated Master’s degree program or Dual Degree program in Engineering / Technology (five year program) and those who are in 4th/5th in Engineering/Technology (five year program) and those who are in 4th/5th year of such programmes.
Master’s degree in any branch of Science / Mathematics / Statistics / Computer Applications or equivalent and those who are in the final year of such programmes.
IISc, IITs, NITs and other reputed educational institutes accept GATE score for M.E./M.Tech/M.S./Ph.D programmes.
These institutes provide a stipend of Rs. 12,400 per month for ME/ M. Tech and Rs, 28,000 per month for PhD.
