  • Conducted & controlled jointly by IISc and IITs
  • GATE is an Online Computer Based Test (CBT) conducted every year in the month of January / February
  • A candidate is allowed to appear in Only one of the 23 papers
  • No restriction on the number of attempts
  • There is no upper age limit
  • GATE score is valid for THREE YEARS from the date of announcement of the results.
  • Candidates have to apply only ONLINE through GOAPS

Eligibility

  • Bachelor’s degree holders in Engineering / Technology / Architecture (4 years after 10 + 2) and those who are in the final year of such programmes.
  • Degree holders in Integrated Master’s degree program or Dual Degree program in Engineering / Technology (five year program) and those who are in 4th/5th in Engineering/Technology (five year program) and those who are in 4th/5th year of such programmes.
  • Master’s degree in any branch of Science / Mathematics / Statistics / Computer Applications or equivalent and those who are in the final year of such programmes.

  • IISc, IITs, NITs and other reputed educational institutes accept GATE score for M.E./M.Tech/M.S./Ph.D programmes.
  • These institutes provide a stipend of Rs. 12,400 per month for ME/ M. Tech and Rs, 28,000 per month for PhD.

ABOUT ENGINEERING SERVICES EXAM (ESE OR IES)

  • onducted by UPSC to recruit Engineers into Government of India Engineering departments.
  • The Exam is conducted in CE, ME, EE and E&T streams.
  • Other branch students are also eligible but they have to choose any one of the above streams.
  • New pattern for ESE 2017: Stage – I may be conducted in February, 2017 Stage – II may be conducted in July, 2017
  • Final year students also eligible to appear and no limit on number of attempts.

Eligibility criteria for ESE

EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS

A degree in Engineering from a recognized university or equivalent. M.Sc. degree or its equivalent with Wireless Communication, Electronics, Radio Physics or Radio Engineering as a special subject.
